Another step towards parenthood

Friday night, 10:00 p.m. injection time.

Carefully loaded Foll.istim pen, put on needle, clicked to 225, injected Meno.pur vile vial (ha! great typo) with Follistim and swished gently. Carefully measured 1 cc of diluent solution into a new syringe and injected that into the Meno.pur vial. More gentle swishing. Then suck the combined Folli.stim/Men.opur mixture back into the syringe. Change to smaller needle.

Ice and then clean injection site with the alcohol swab. Mr. Jem then gave me the injection (after gently tapping out the air bubbles) and after I balked and giggled nervously.

Stung like a m*ther-f*cker. I think it's the Meno.pur that stings. Luckily 5 min. later the sting is gone and I'm left with a deep sense of satisfaction.

NOW, we're officially doing this thing (again for the 2nd time).

You go, Giiiirl! Here's to a happy, successful cycle! It's definitely the Menopur that burns. I could.not.stand.that.stuff. I would rather take progesterone in the long butt needle ANY DAY! Horrible stuff but it's the "booster" that may help you make more follicles! Looking forward to your first report! Best of luck!

And thanks for the sweet comments on my blogdiggetydog. You rock!

Hugs!

I called it menopurevil. Burns like hell. Here's hoping this is the last time you'll have to put up with it!

There is so much satisfaction in starting a cycle. Finally something is in your control, even if it is only the injection part.

I have everything crossed for you!

Yes! Menopur does sting bad girl! Try icing the injection site and it helps a little. I always stuck an ice cube wrapped in a damp paper towel in my waistband while I prepared the shot and it really helped. Good luck!!! =)

I know!! Tonight was my third shot of menop.ur and I sat down after to write about what an evil bi*ch it is!
I'm going to try the ice trick, hope it works for you too. Good luck this cycle!

Did you mix it and let it sit for a few minutes? I've heard that helps the sting a little. I only did it that way, so I'm not sure if there was a difference.

The menopur is awful. But when this works it will be more than worth it!

Yup, its the Meno-pure-evil (love that!). I've never heard of a combo shot like that. I did one in the am, one in the pm. Fun, fun. Bit - it worked!! Good luck to you.

boy this brings back memories. I remember keeping the syringes in the meat drawer in the fridge- even after we abandoned IVF I forgot about them and found them -seriously- like 6 months later! (we never kept stuff in that drawer) ;)

Good luck- praying for you! xo
