First ever HPT - confused and need help

Today is cyle day 32. My cycle is normally 30 days, on the dot. On day 30 I had a bunch of my pre-period symptoms: headache, grouchiness, craving chocolate, emotional out-bursts. Today I feel great. Still no period.

I have an appointment with Dr. W this morning for another mock transfer in preparation for our FET. Gotta map out my cervix, as Dr. Alternative had a hard time getting the embies up there during the fresh cycle. In fact, it hurt. Like a pap smear with the dentist from Little_Shop_of_Horrors.

Anyhoo. I realize this this my first cycle post IVF, but 32 is long for me.

So I bought my First HPT this morning, right when the pharmacy opened. Luckily, the Clear.blue's were on sale.

Results?

Not pregnant. But...

There is the faintest vertical line across the big fat horizontal line. Is this the famous evaporation line? If I were PG, at 2 days past the day I expected my period, wouldn't the vertical line be stronger?

I've called my IVF coordinator to ask her what to do.

I'm feeling super anxious right now.

Help!

Update:Peed on the 2nd test. Same very, very faint line. Jumping in my car right now to get a better test. Thanks for the suggestions. OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG...

Update #2: Bought the F.irst R.esponse digital. The little clock is flashing...

Update #3: No. Definitely negative. Oh well. It was a fun ride... Where's my period, then?

Update #4: I hate IF, I hate my body, I hate Mr. Jem's crap sperm. I just want to cry. When I left the pharmacy the last time, I turned down the offer for a bag. As I turned to leave, the lady at the register said, "Don't forget the receipt." I replied, "Why? Can I return the test if it doesn't give me the response I want?"

Ughh. Again, I hate this.

I might try another test. I always thought that a line is a line...how long did it take for it to come up?

Here's hoping for the best gift ever this holiday!!

My first line was so light that if I hadn't studied it I might not have noticed. Then I got a digital... no denying those. Go get a digital one if you can! Good luck :)

Wow. I agree with the commenter above - I'd try another test. My RE told us never to test with C.lear B.lue or with E.P.Ts because their patients always had really high betas and very faint lines with those brands. Just an opinion.

My experience is don't use T.arget brand (up. and u.p) because they give false positives. According to that test, my husband and I were both pregnant! :-)

The only brand I use is F.irst R.esponse at the recommendation of my RE. I got a nice pink line at 3 PM (obviously not first morning urine). Beta was 24.

That's just my two cents, and I'm sure others have had other experiences.

Good luck!

I was thinking of going to get a digital as well. Good luck!

No wait...I just read a post where the digital was negative, but the person was pregnant. Apparently the digitals register a higher amount of hcG. Can you get an old-school FRER? Or ask for a beta just to have the number?

I'd use a FRER. It detected a beta of 13 in me, with a faint, but definite line. I never tried a digital, so I don't know if it would have been positive with a beta of 13. I don't think there would be a line if there were no HCG in you.

I'm cautiously optimistic for you! This is my dream ending BTW--being able to call the RE and cancel my FET because...oops...I am pregnant! Good luck!

My two cents: I heard that digitals are not as sensitive as the other kind - get a beta!!!
Hoping lots and lots!

Oh I have SO MANY bad memories associated with HPTs!!!! So sorry for your roller coaster today!!! ((HUGS!!)) Hope this FET is the one that gets you that BFP!!! :)

FRER line test got me at around 13, so that's my vote, too. The CBE Digital registered it at that time, too.

We'll hold your hope.

OMG! I agree with previous girls, get a BETA... because a line is a line, no matter how faint... and maybe it's still early... so the digital won't show it.

I'm so hoping for a miracle BFP here!

What a roller coaster. I am so sorry! Get a BETA if you can, and I hope it's a holiday miracle. I agree that IF SUCKS!!!

IF does suck. Keep positive. If you haven't had anything lately, fertility drug wise, get a Beta, there might not be enough hCG to trip the test. Hang in there, we're all behind you.
