SA results & planning for IVF #2

Finally got Mr. Jem's SA results. Dr. W called me personally. "The count is up to 250K [from zero] which was enough for us to freeze for the next cycle. No need for a testicular biopsy like last time."

Yippee! I've never been so happy about a crappy SA before! For those of you not blessed with MFIF, anything under 25 million is low. We're not even at the million mark.

Mr. Jem will talk to the urologist, Dr. Johnson (NOT his real name, BTW) about the results and whether he can/should stop taking Clom.id as it's dropped his already low libido down to almost zero.

Oh, and yesterday we dropped by the clinic. We set up our WTF/What's the plan appointment to May 26. As to day is my CD1 (it was only spotting the last two days), I should be starting my Cycle around May 22. He suggested I start with BCPs and get a baseline on CD2, BEFORE the appointment with him. I'm curious to know what change in protocol he might have for us.

While at the clinic we spoke to the on-site acupuncturist. She said they were starting a study that we we qualify for that would mean free acupuncture treatments and herbs during our cycle! Considering we spent over $1,500 in acupuncture alone last year, that's a very good deal.

Am a really gearing up for another cycle? Could it really be? Pinch me!!

Jem

That is awesome! And IVF #2! I've heard a lot of stories of IVF going so much better the second time around since they kind of know what they're working with. At least that's what I'm hoping, since we're starting round 2.

Nice that you got to be included in the study :-).
And good that you had enough spermies to freeze.

Fingers crossed & I'll even burn some sage for you ;)

As for your approaching bday, 40 hit me hard too- so I'm willing to listen to rants & raves & tell you how I got through it (it involved a swift kick in the ass, metaphorically that is!) The other thing that helped me through IF is almost too embarassing to mention, but I will... I used to 'hang' on celebrity tabloid-tidbits about stars who conceived at an older age, or who went through IF hell, etc. I didn't follow celeb gossip before or since, but because "in my day" I didn't connect with the blogosphere about this my tiny reassurances came from the media (probably pathetic but there it is).

I'd love to catch up with you & have tried to catch you on chat. Let's talk soon...

I COMPLETELY understand the mediocre sperm count celebration. I think I actually screamed when they told me we had 20,000, because we were quite sure we were going to have to do TESE or use donor sperm. 20k sounded as good as 2000000 to me! Congrats! Good luck with the cycle!!

Awesome news. Thats really great. How do they swim? If not great maybe look into PICSI and IMSI considering you now have a great big batch to choose from!!!! It might have been the thing that made a difference for us. Who knows! Good luck!

What great news on your SA! That really is amazing and I bet Mr Jem is thrilled at no biopsy! AS for the free herbs and accupuncture, it all sounds like the stars are aligning for you.
