16w2d: butterfly kiss?

This morning I felt a pulsing in my lower abdomen, like a heartbeat... hmmm... could this be the "butterfly kiss" of first movement that my OB said to look for?

Suddenly a ray of hope!

Question: for those of you fortunate enough to get this far, what did your baby's first movement feel like?

~Jem

P.S. I didn't find a good picture of butterfly kisses, so I thought I'd leave you with cute bunnies.

I felt mine at 15w1d, which is pretty early from what I'm told. Mine felt like bubbles popping.

I will say though that the future movement I noticed felt like a flutter or almost like static electricity.

So excited for you! It only get's better! In another 6-8 weeks you'll be able to SEE it. So crazy!

I felt muscle twitch-like movements at 14 weeks. I also felt bubble-like movements :)

Amazing, isn't it?

Yep, very similar; I felt it at 17 weeks exactly. It felt like bubbles in my stomach, but butterfly kisses is a much lovelier description. :)

Yay for movement! I felt a very light tap at first. I think I was about 16 or 17 weeks. It started out light, but he was rocking and rolling in no time.

Gosh, how I miss those feelings...

Every once in a while I'll feel bubbles in my stomach and think.... "It can't be!"

My first felt just like a little heartbeat in my tummy, not rhythmic, of course, but the same very light thump, only from the inside. I did not know what it was for days, as I had always imagined the baby moving as a harder kick, but a friend enlightened me. It was magical :)

A flutter is a good way to describe it.

They will get stronger. I think feeling the movements is the nicest thing about being pregnant. A little reminder that your baby is there.

I didn't feel them until about 20 weeks in my first pregnancy which may just mean I didn't recognise them. This time I felt them much earlier, definitely at 17 weeks but I thought maybe earlier, though wasn't sure.

I had suspected them earlier but I wasn't sure until exactly week 21 because my placentas (twins) are anterior. By then it felt like tap dancing.

Very cool. I felt Twin B first, sometime between 17 and 18 weeks. (Twin A's placenta is anterior, so it took a couple more weeks for me to feel his movements.)

The first movements I felt were like a fluttering inside. Now that they are bigger, they feel more like painless muscle spasms/twitches.

Mine felt like popcorn popping, so I suppose bubbles. :) I wasn't *entirely* sure it was movement until I felt it at the same time as seeing my babies move at the 18 week ultrasound. Once I knew for sure, it was easier to spot.

Just found your blog on ICLW. Congrats on this wonderful milestone! (I can't, however, offer you any advice, as we are pregnant for the first time via surrogacy-- and an egg donor). Looking forward to following your journey! Bernadette

That is exactly what mine felt like . . . a rhythmic pulsing at the end of 15 weeks. Congratulations!

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Sorry if you get this message twice, but I tried to leave a comment earlier but did not work! I appreciate what you are saying about intralipids and I know they are not a magical potion. I have had our failed cycles and we are at the point financially and emotionally that we may explore other options, like adoption soon. I want to feel that before we do that we have tried everything positive. From research it does not seem to be harmful and so I think it is worth a go. Congrats by the way!

With Ginny, it took until I was almost 20wks before I was able to recognize movement. I was sitting at my desk at work and there was a rolling sensation that I couldn't chalk up to IBS, gas, or anything but baby.

I've had a few moments in the last couple of weeks where I'm fairly certain I've felt something. But there's still part of me that doubts it because it's still early.

The first movement I felt was like a very, very light thump from the inside. And mostly the movement has felt like muscle twitches, only deeper than where the muscle lies.

I am so jealous that you got a doppler. I wish that I would have had one for our pregnancy, but was so concerned about appearing to be overly anxious - which I am and was!

The first movements I felt were like muscle twitches low in my abdomen, but they kept changing location.

Enjoy every minute!
