Moving forward

After the shock of hearing that we only have a 20% chance of getting pregnant last week, I mourned. I guess this is the first time that I considered the fact that we may not have a biological child.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I can't tell you how much it means to me to receive your kind words and to give me a reality check. Yes, you are right. Most couples only have a 20% chance of conceiving any given month (granted, they don't pay $20K for the privilege).

So, we have decided to move forward with IVF #3. Give it a go, 100%. I'm willing to do this. We'll be starting in December.

Only other hurtle to jump: genetic counseling #2 (mandated by Dr. Z).

Good luck with Dr. Z. I just completed my first fresh cycle transfer with him (but have done 2 others elsewhere) and was diagnosed with similar immune issues as you have. I went through the intralipdis, am taking baby aspirin and folgard, etc... My beta is tomorrow, actually.

You will be in good hands with Dr. Z!

Sending you all kinds of love and good vibes for December!

I missed the last post, but I do agree that the odds you were quoted do sound like the odds for coceiving any given month. That gives you a pretty good shot, I think!

Keeping my everything crossed! Personally I've found out that stats are just numbers and anything can really happen :)

You're in great hands. I'd cycle with him again if I could. 20% is just a number. Those damned stats don't take into account how many embryos are transferred, whether 1 or 6 embryos. So the stats are actually different depending on how many you put in.

Keep repeating to yourself:

20 is just a number.
20 is just a number
20 is just a number.

Keeping everything crossed for you.

Fingers, toes, knitting needles, dog's toes all crossed for you. I'll cross other people's fingers too for you... will it help if I dance around in my PJs inside out and backwards (like we used to do for snowdays... wait, you probably didn't do that much in Oregon)....

20% are better odds than 5%... and it's just a number anyway. (So is $20K... and think of it is forcing yourself to dine in more often) :-)

I am very late to the party on this (catching up on posts after a very busy couple of weeks) but I just wanted to add my encouragement...20% is nothing to sneeze at, and I have got my fingers pre-crossed for your next cycle.

Hi. I'll be doing IVF #3 in January. We were also given a 20% chance. After being completely devastated I decided to see a naturopathy specialist as a last ditch effort. I too hope that everything works out for you. 20 is only a number!!
